The Grade for this position is C44(1). <br /><br /><strong>Department and Division Information:</strong> <br />The Department of Information Technology Services Infrastructure & Operations Support Division provides services in the areas of Desktop Support, Data Center Operations, Server Administration, Network Design and Support, Storage Management, Backup Solutions, SAN Administration, VM Environment Management, Telecommunications and Information Security. The staff supports over 3600 personal computers, 1000 Mobile Devices, approximately 600 Microsoft Servers, 110 physical network locations, and over 5500 telephony devices throughout the County. We are dedicated to providing technologies for an efficient, secure and innovative client environment. <br /><br /><strong>Position Description:</strong> <br />The Senior Edge Network Administrator is responsible for the user facing networks and network services for Gwinnett County. This position will work independently and as the edge team lead to identify opportunities and design solutions, configure and implement devices and software, and maintain and provide break fix for the existing equipment and services in both project and day to day roles. The ideal candidate will have solid communication skills and be able to mentor and manage junior employees in a fast paced and changing environment. <br /><br /><strong>Minimum Qualifications: <br /></strong>Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible, professional level analyst and systems experience in a large scale Information Technology environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, to include the following: <br />• Valid Driver’s License from state of residency <br />• 5 to 7 years of network design, management, and troubleshooting experience  with 1 to 2 years design in a Public Sector environment.<br />• Fluke DTX cable testers with copper and fiber <br />• Extensive understanding of network cable standards and experience designing physical infrastructure for networks with 50 or more sites <br />• Experience with wide area fiber networks a plus.<br />• Strong Layer 1-3 knowledge <br />• Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco Catalyst switches and routers including but not limited to: 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 routers running IOS 12.x and 15.x 2900, 3500, 3700, 6500 series switches running IOS 12.x and 15.x <br />• Cisco CSM, and ASA modules for 6500 series chassis <br />• Cisco Nexus Line <br />• Cisco 5500 series firewalls running IOS 7, 8, and 9 <br />• Cisco  SRST <br />• Cisco Unified Communications<br />• Cisco Prime Infrastructure 4.2 <br />• Clustered Cisco 5508 WLC v7.0.235.3 with Anchor controllers <br />• Cisco WCS 7.0.240.0 <br />• Cisco VSOM 7.0.1 with multiple distributed media servers <br />• Cisco ACS 5.1 <br />• Solarwinds NPM 10.4, IPAM 3.1, Solarwinds NTA 3.10 <br />• TACACS+, RADIUS<br /><em><strong><br />The individual will be required to be on-call after hours, weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule with other team members. <br /><br /></strong></em><strong>***BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED*** <br />Due to the nature of this position and access to Public Safety systems and facilities, an extensive background check is required for employment.  The background check includes motor vehicle and criminal histories, fingerprinting, and polygraph.<br /><br /></strong>For information related to position-specific Essential Duties, Knowledge and Skills, and Physical Requirements, click <a href="http://agency.governmentjobs.com/gwinnett/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=721291&headerfooter=0">here</a>.<br /><br /><strong>NOTE:  The class specifications listed on this site are not the official class specifications for Gwinnett County and are subject to change.</strong>
